A security checklist for the dental office manager

Use a checklist to organize questions and assign follow-up. A checked box should point to evidence or a named owner, rather than a general feeling that something is covered.

Start with people and routines

Check staff training assignments, new-hire onboarding, unique logins, MFA where available and the route for reporting a suspicious message. Discuss changes with the person responsible for the practice’s security program.

Ask the technical owner

Have the IT or website provider explain backups, access controls, supported software and email authentication. Record the answer and the next review date.

Use the free tools within their scope

The checklist helps organize a review. The Practice Exposure Check reports selected public domain and website signals. Neither examines internal systems or provides a complete security risk analysis.
